Survival instruction can make the difference in whether you live or die during an emergency. Another ALSS exclusive, experience a candid – and at times brutally honest – behind the scenes look at survival programming on television. Survival TV has piqued the outdoor interests of hundreds of thousands of people. Yet nothing has done more damage to the profession of outdoor survival skills than networks phony survival instructors and dangerous, out of context scripted programming. This course is a no-holds barred expose of the reality of so-called reality TV.

Feast on the truth while you feast on a Southwestern style campfire dinner roast under the Mogollon rim in the heart of Zane Grey country. Enjoy homemade Elk tamales, roasted corn on the cob, spiced beans, tortillas, salsa and Dutch oven peach cobbler in the beautiful Ponderosa pines. After dinner, watch an outdoor slide show of never before seen photographs of Cody’s travels around the world while filming his television shows. Each student gets a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a piece of gear used on the show. Dutch oven biscuits and gravy, eggs, and fresh fruit are for breakfast!

Unlike other ALSS courses, several amenities are provided for tent or car camping and include indoor bathroom facilities. Limited on-site cabin rentals are also available. Contact us for details. Kick back around the campfire with us for an exclusive lesson on separating the bull from the bullshit to keep your family safe!

Learn how to choose a reputable survival instructor:

  • Stop phonies and BS’ers in their tracks by asking these simple questions.
  • The importance and order of intention, context, and content and why networks and many survival instructors don’t get it.
  • The big three: Modern Outdoor Survival Skills, Primitive Living Skills, and Urban Preparedness. Always confused by the media, learn how to tell the difference for the safety of you and your loved ones.
  • “Survivalist”: Why this much used, non-descriptive label is harmful to your survival training and compromises the accurate vetting of your potential instructors.
  • The military myth: How major media wrongly assume that Special Operations soldiers are also outdoor survival instructors.
  • To vet or not to vet: The reality of how TV networks choose their so-called “survival experts” and why it’s killing viewers.
  • “Just add drama…”: Understanding the most routinely used production move for cloaking a lack of quality content.
  • The biggest causes of death in the outdoors…and why most survival shows always choose semi-tropical back drops.
  • Cody’s survival kit for desert and mountain regions, a lecture and demonstration . . . it spawned his best-selling book 98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive!
  • Uncensored Q and A around the campfire with Cody: Ask him everything about anything.
